PT Maskapai Reasuransi Indonesia,Tbk (Marein) didirikan pada 4 Juni 1953, Marein terlahir sebagai perusahaan reasuransi pertama di Tanah Air dan terdaftar sebagai perusahaan reasuransi terbuka pertama dengan mencatatkan sahamnya di Pasar Bursa Indonesia (IDX) pada 1989. Marein telah melakukan kenaikan modal dasar dan modal disetor beberapa kali. Yang terakhir adalah pada 2008 Modal Disetor menjadi Rp 77.7 miliar dan Modal Dasar menjadi Rp 300 miliar pada 2015
